What goes into your mind when you lose your mobile phone? That's what happened to me more than 2 months ago. My beloved HTC Touch Pro was stolen in the middle of the night through the window. My first reaction was to wonder if I had misplaced it. But after a couple of hours of panicking, searching and thinking, I concluded that it was really stolen.
Next, I started to worry about the valuable data that I have lost, especially since I did not password-lock my device. I worried about files that have not been backup for a long time, especially the contents on my Storage Card. I also worried if I have any confidential data that are not protected though most of the confidential data (passwords, etc) are stored in eWallet file that is password-protected. I also worried about saved passwords in Opera Mobile, Pocket Outlook mail accounts, etc. And lastly, it's also the pain of losing an expensive device which I spent S$1000+ on. The cost of the device and the data is quite a pain...more
Hi all,
we are finally ready to roll out the trial version to our customers: PhoneBAK GPS
About PhoneBAK GPS
An integrated solution ('Anti-theft', 'GPS Tracking' and 'Emergency') that lets users locate their friends, employees, vehicles or family members to know their whereabouts.
PhoneBAK GPS lets the parents see the location of their children mobile phones, employers to track their vehicles and also the whereabout of employees (journalists, agents etc) when carrying out their work.
How it works?
The employer can simply request the location of the delivery vehicle by sending a SMS to the driver's phone.
When the SMS is received as an incoming message; PhoneBAK will then be triggered and switch on the GPS automatically and calculate the location of the whereabout of the person. Once the information is collected, it will be sent back as a SMS to the requestor's mobile phone with a URL of the map....

Users of current-generation Windows Mobile 6 phones can download a new Facebook application starting Thursday.
Microsoft says it's the first application that lets mobile users upload video to their Facebook pages directly from a phone. Users will also be able to create wall posts, share photos, send messages and update profile pictures from the application.
When the next-generation Windows Mobile 6.5 phones start coming out in the second half, Microsoft will release a Facebook application compatible with the new phones, it said.
In late March, Microsoft announced it would deliver a Facebook app in four to six weeks. Despite Microsoft's financial stake in Facebook, there has not been an official Facebook application for Windows Mobile phones. BlackBerry devices, iPhones and Palm devices all have Facebook applications...more
If you access WiFi networks from your laptop, these networks may sometimes want to know your laptop’s MAC Address. Some wireless networks restrict access to only those computers they know. The MAC Address is what the network asks for a piece of identification to distinguish between computers it knows and utter strangers.
No two MAC Address numbers are identical, and the MAC Address is very difficult to fake. By using the MAC Address, a wireless network can restrict access to only those computers that are known and registered.
The MAC Address is 12 digits long, broken up into pairs, like this: 12:34:56:78:9A:BC. It's a base-16 value (also called hexadecimal), so the letters A through F are also considered to be numbers.
If the MAC Address is necessary to connect to a specific network, hand it over to the network manager or human in charge. That person will happily add your laptop's address to the list of allowed computers so that you can use the network.
Here’s how to find your laptop’s MAC address:
Choose Control Panel from the Start menu, and then open the Control Panel's Network and Sharing Center.
Click the link labeled View Status by the connection you want to examine.

Click the Details button.
A Network Connection Details dialog box appears. Locate the item labeled Physical Address, which is the MAC Address number.
Copy down that number.
Close the various dialog boxes, windows, and whatnot. Details
It looks as if RIM are trying their hardest to convince customers in the US that the Apple iPhone 4G isnt the only hot cell phone out this year. Well today, we have had confirmed news of a second generation Blackberry
According to this IntoMobile report, RIM Co-CEO Jim Balsillie has confirmed the Blackberry Storm 2 to be in development at the moment. Features should include an enhanced touchscreen, although its not clear whether the SurePress tech which featured in the first model will return.
One feature which lacked in the original was Integrated WiFi, so the Blackberry Storm should incorporate this in the new model we predict. As for a release date, this coming September has been thrown into the pipeline, but we all know how quickly release dates can change, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Like all shiny toys, your iPhone is always at risk of being stolen. Given your iPhone's hefty price tag, and the amount of personal data that it houses (name, telephone number, address, place of employment, email address, passwords, online bank account information, private emails, etc...), it is imminent for all iPhone users to protect their phone. While nobody can keep a thief from snatching the device out of their pockets, there are several vital steps which can be made that greatly increase your chances of getting your iPhone back.

When you compare the top-notch Nokia Nseries mobile sets like N95 with iPhone, the former always overwhelms with its performance. Whether the GPS, messaging, camera or the radio the Nokia Nseries mobiles peak the performance. Nokia would always envy iPhone's quantum leap in popularity within a short span.
The apps flooding the Apple stores have highly contributed to iPhone's acceptance. Although the feature-rich Nokia Nseries sets would seldom care about apps, Nokia can't boast of a colossal app store like iPhone.
But there are some truly exciting apps for the Nokia Nseries mobiles. What I found was the apps for Nseries sets are scattered over internet and after exhaustive googling I could filter some cool ones. Now, if you have got one of the Nokia Nseries mobile sets or looking to buy one you can have a look at my collection of Top 10 apps for Nokia Nseries.

With incidents of mobile-theft becoming regular this app can be quite handy. PhoneBAK security software allows the user to wipe out confidential information from the phone in case of theft. Seemingly designed as a successor of the Palm Centro, the rumored next WebOS device by Palm has finally received a name and a face - enter the Palm Eos. At only 10.6mm thickness the QWERTY-equipped handset packs quad-band GSM support and dual-band HSDPA (more or less its US flavor frequencies).
