[BAK2u] Feedback - PhoneBAK GPS (Symbian)

Hi all,

since the introduction of PhoneBAK GPS (Symbian), we been receiving feedback if it is possible NOT to have the pop up seeking permission, before the GPS starts calculating its location and send back notifying in realtime where the person is.

Current version:
When a sms is received, the user will need to give the permission by selecting Yes/No to track the location.

Pros:
- For use in logistic industry; where drivers do not need to reply when driving.
- For use when in emergency, the person do not have to use the phone in order to reply

Cons:
- Risk of spying
- Invasion of privacy (but the GPS option can be switched off)

Let us know your opinion here.

[BAK2u] BerryReview.com - PhoneBAKup Adds Backup & Restore Features OTA (via Email)

My buddy Kyle spotted an updated the PhoneBAKup from Bak2U that adds a new feature that many will find interesting. Not only will PhoneBAKup help you find a stolen or lost BlackBerry but now it will also backup your address book, tasks, calendar, & memos. It does this by creating a file with that information and emailing it to yourself. You can restore it in the future by putting it on your SDcard and clicking the restore button.

phonebackup1 phonebackup2 phonebackup3

You can easily schedule the backup to run daily while you are sleeping which is pretty cool. Nowhere near a real BES solution for Backup but it does give you some peace of mind. Also the app does not have a subscription fee so it is just a one time $19.90 purchase and they do have a 30 day trial. More details can be found about the backup feature at this link.

Bing.com—A Review of the New Search Engine

Look out Google, there is a new search engine out from Microsoft. In its introduction statement offered on the Web site, Bing promises to aid its users in making “smarter, faster decisions,” but does it deliver?

In my test, I decided to start with the most natural thing: just searching some topics. I started three different tabs and searched various topics on the Bing Google, and Yahoo search engines and compared the results. Interestingly, all three search engines brought up almost exactly the same Web sites, in a different order, but with less advertisements than Yahoo. This is not exactly what the commercials had promised me...more

Apple selling iPhone 3G S at 8 a.m. June 19, AT&T at 7 a.m.

Click the photo for more pics of last year's iPhone launch.

(Credit: James Martin/CNET)

This post was udpated with information about AT&T store hours at 3:45 p.m. PDT.

Apple offered clarification Wednesday for when exactly the new iPhone 3G S will go on sale.

Though Apple Senior Vice President of Marketing Phil Schiller said during his keynote speech at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference that the phone will first be available in the U.S. and seven other countries on June 19, he didn't offer a specific time. The 3G S will go on sale starting at 8 a.m. (in all time zones) next Friday. We know that many stores will open early that day for the occasion.

AT&T Stores will open even earlier, at 7 a.m., just for those who have pre-ordered an iPhone 3G S from the carrier. Those who haven't will have to wait outside AT&T stores until 8 a.m. with the rest of the public.

As usual, we'll be following iPhone sales in various time zones. Will Apple fans stand in line for the third straight year? We'll find out. In the meantime, click the photo above for a gallery of very committed line standers from the 2008 launch of the iPhone 3G

Palm to out-iPod Apple with CEO pick

The individual credited with building the iPod is poised to square off against he who birthed the player, Steve Jobs - or at least his company, Apple.

Palm has named Apple's former iPod division chief Jon Rubinstein as its chairman and chief executive officer, less than two years after he joined fresh from Apple as executive chairman.

Rubinstein will take over from current CEO Ed Colligan, who's stepping down after 16 years with the handset provider. Rubinstein will take charge on June 12, Palm said Wednesday.

The change comes just days after Sprint Nextel - the US's third largest carrier - began shipping the touch-enabled Palm Pre and claimed it had already sold out. The Pre's development was overseen by Rubinstein, who had headed Apple's iPhone division...more
